2013 is just around the corner and pets everywhere in the Philippines have already been suffering through many frightful nights of fireworks. Because I share my home with 7 cats and 2 dogs, I choose to have a more peaceful New Year’s Day celebration with minimal noise-making – some music and horn-honking at the most – and definitely no fireworks.
The Department of Health has the right of it: the New Year can be ushered in just as merrily without using firecrackers.
So here’s hoping that as we celebrate the arrival of 2013, all of us will spare our fur kids from the stress and fear caused them by the firecracker explosions. Let’s make the arrival of the New Year safer for both humans and animals. Let’s GANGNAM into 2013!
BUT, just in case your area does have lots of fireworks going off on New Year’s Eve and especially at the stroke of midnight here are some tips for all you pet owners to make it easier for your fur kids to make it through the night:
